Prepare Your Test Environment
- Online remote exams are conducted live via video; we use Zoom. Please download the newest version of Zoom link.
- You will need two devices with cameras for your exam; any combination will work. (PC and phone, tablet and phone, laptop and phone, or 2 laptops).
- Please have your work area clean and clutter free.
- If you are using Mac/Ipad, please test your computer to make sure it can run Zoom, and has the needed permission to share the screen.
- Please ensure your devices are sufficiently charged or plugged in before you begin the exam.
- Have ID Ready: Have a photo ID ready to show ( Driver’s License or Passport)
- For minors a school ID or birth certificate will work.
- Your exam area:
- You won’t need a calculator; the exam software has one built in for you
- Be prepared to cover any additional monitors and/or tv’s that may be in the room with a towel, sheet, or t-shirt.
- Exams must be interruption free to avoid invalidating your test.
2. Exam Session Procedure
- Please enter the Zoom meeting by clicking the link in the email invite that you received when you registered.
- Once logged into Zoom, you will be in the waiting room until your exam session begins (There may be a short wait if we have an applicant ahead of you.)
- Please remember that all of the Volunteer Examiners (VEs) in your session are volunteering their time to help you get your ham radio license,
- After passing your exam, you will be asked to review some documents required to process your license.
